Portfolio Manager

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Under the link “Portfolios”, you will find functions that make working with your portfolios a snap.

Portfolio manager in sals.a

The Portfolio Manager is controlled like any Windows program. It offers you the following functions:

  • Add a new portfolio
    Lets you create a portfolio.
  • Add portfolio from Excel-file
Activates the import function in sals.a. As always, you can select a target portfolio for the import of your transaction data. But, you can also define the target portfolio for each transaction individually in the sals.a Excel table. This allows you to import transactions from a single Excel table into different portfolios.
More details on the Excel import function are available here.
  • Backup selected portfolios
The selected portfolios are exported to an Excel table, and can be saved to a local drive on your computer. All of the transaction parameters, as well as the payment plan (results table in the bottom half of the input mask) are preserved in the backup file. An additional table marked “Upload” is also created, which can be used later to re-load the transaction data via the Excel import function.
  • Delete selected portfolios
The portfolios you select are permanently deleted after clicking “OK” in the confirmation window.
  • Activate / deactivate portfolio view
Simply check (or uncheck) the box in front of the portfolio name and press “OK”. You also have the option of viewing multiple portfolios at once.
  • View grouping
Group portfolio data by date or (user-defined) categories or subgroups
  • Sorting
You can sort the portfolios by name, creation date or other column content.
  • Expand Column
Move the mouse over one of the column headers and click on the arrow to open a drop down menu. There, you will find further self-explanatory options to customize your view preferences.
